After the success of season 16, which saw Team Washo momentarily reach the dizzy heights of division 1, the first half of season 17 has been an unmitigated disaster for the Staffordshire based outfit.
In the past 7 days we have scored a pitiful 260 points, which has led to the team slipping to the foot of division 2, but with over 750 points to lose in the next month, the future doesn’t look good. Team manager Dave says, “we’ve constantly failed as a team this season, and our top riders have not delivered at all. Its very frustrating, we were hindered by the holiday break, but since then the performances have been unacceptable.”
Therefore action is required, and fast. Dave responded by giving an important announcement, “we’ve decided that until day 80 we won’t be racing competitively, just practice races and perhaps break away attempts. This means that come day 80, the team will have plunged to the depths of division 6, where hopefully we can regroup and rebuild. If the riders can’t perform at that level, then we’ll have to consider a major overhaul of our squad.”
The whole team can’t wait for this disaster of a season to be over, 13 is supposed to be the unlucky number, but for Team Washo it seems to be 17. Let’s just hope season 18 will be better, it can’t get any worse, surely.
